New to the SCKW Line of fine cutlery:
The Kiridashi
Our version of this useful pattern was conceived as I was cutting out the blade blanks from the forged billet of steel. A small curved piece of steel was left as the handle of the No.6 and No.8 took shape at the band saw. I had always thought that these pieces could be forged into a functional tool, and I hate to throw anything away that might be used. So, after several years, I had a fairly sizable collection of these little bits. I have always had a great interest in high quality Japanese forged wood working tools, and in particular a fine working blade style called the kiridashi. So I set out to forge a small version that could be carried and used every day.

These little knives are approximately 3.25" long over all, provide an very sharp edge that is about 1" long, and have an incredibly sharp point. The edges are polished similarly to our standard SCKW offerings, but the handles are left with a 100 grit finish and some forge marks left intact for a better grip. We provide a Kydex cover for the edge.
I now carry one of these fantastically practical little blades in addition to my everyday carry knife, and they are so slim in profile, you literally can't tell they are in your pocket. They are indispensible for any number of small cutting chores.
Just as with our other knives, the kiridashi are offered in either AISI 5160 or 270 layer damascus. Pricing is as follows:
Kiridashi-Damascus
$40.00 with Kydex sheath and lanyard
Kiridashi-5160
$25.00 with Kydex sheath and lanyard
Please see the Available Knives page for availability.
